MARRIED TO CONNIE SINCE 1969 AND HAVE 2 KIDS- RYAN IN SCOTTSDALE, AND JILL IN LAS VEGAS, SO THEY SURE GET TO SEE US IN THE WINTER MONTHS. GRANCHILDREN NUMBER 3 SO FAR.I SOLD MY COMPANY IN JANUARY THIS YEAR AND INTEND TO REMAIN PERMANENTLY RETIRED. RIGHT NOW, I'M GETTING AT LEAST 1 ROUND OF GOLF EACH DAY, WITH THE REMAINING TIME WORKING ON "HABITAT FOR LARRY AND CONNIE." IT'S REALLY AMAZING HOW FAR BEHIND I AM ON HOME PROJECTS AFTER 18 YEARS OF SELF-EMPLOYMENT. ALSO IN MY SPARE TIME, I CONTINUE TO WORK ON R & D PROJECTS, HOPING TO COME UP WITH THE NEXT GREAT INVENTION OR A NEW BUSINESS THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE SO MUCH WORK. WHAT DO I MISS ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL AT BENSON? EVERYTHING! THOSE TRULY WERE HAPPY DAYS. UNFORTUNATELY, I'VE PRETTY WELL LOST CONTACT WITH MOST OF MY H.S. FRIENDS, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER RESIDED OUTSIDE OF OMAHA. |

I am married (Judy Benson BHS '66) and have been for the last 36 years. We have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. I have been working for CSG Systems in Omaha for the past 10 years. Prior to that I spent 20 years with NWBell and 3 years with MFS (Metro Fiber Systems). I spent 2 years of active duty in the US Navy reserves and did two tours to Viet Nam. I am hoping to be able to retire within the next couple of years and just be able to persue some of my hobbies. I like playing with my old cars, working in the yard and doing short vacation trips.

Married to Sally for 31 years and still living in the Elkhorn/Omaha area. Our two children, Sarah and her husband David Wagenfuhr and Molly reside in Dallas. David plays professional soccer for FC Dallas so Sally and I spend as much time as possible in Texas watching soccer and spending time with family. We are expecting our first grandchild (Sarah and David) in February. |

1 July 2012: I regret that I will not be able to join the 45th anniversary fun in August, but I'll submit an updated bio sketch anyway (CV etc on my home page). After graduating from Hastings College in 1971, I married Sheila Jelinek '65 and headed for Florida for grad school in zoology. In 1978, fresh doctorate in hand, we moved to Earlham College in Indiana where I was a biology professor and director of the natural history museum for 33 years. Sheila has taught elementary school since 1969. We have two sons (one 28 in Houston, and the other 24 in Indianapolis). I semi-retired in 2011 to devote more time to my long-term field research in the Bahamas (iguanas) and western Nebraska (turtles). Still trying to save the planet, one species at a time. Peace to all. |

![]() Our son, Adam, has gone global. He received his degree at Kennesaw State University, majoring in International Affairs, minoring in Asian studies. For the last 2 years, he has been teaching English in Shanghai so he could learn more about the culture. He is dating a Dutch woman he met there and it looks like they will be moving to The Netherlands where they will both work and Adam will pursue a MBA. Ron is now a math professor at a local college. He gets summers off so we have been able to travel. Last summer, we went to China and toured around with Adam. This year, we went to Europe to see friends and families. Adam met us in Scotland where my cousin, Al Peters (BHS'61) lives with his family. Our adventure continued by visitng with our cousins in Denmark. Next stop was Norway to see our Foreign Exchange daughter and her family. We loved touring the fjords. Then on to Warsaw where Adam's former professor was visiting his financee. Our final stop was Brussels where a Danish cousin and family lives. Needless to say, I love to travel! I'm so glad that we decided to have a 45th reunion rather than waiting until our 50th. I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone. This will be my 5th reunion and I have enjoyed each one! |

Well we have all gotten older haven't we! I married before I had a chance to graduate college and never went back. Seemed I was the one supporting my little family. I spent 33 years working for the local phone company; the old LT&T in Lincoln, Ne. The last 15 years I worked splicing cable and then as an installation and repair technician. I believe it was the most fun and the best job in the world! I loved it and all the people I worked with. I also had 3 wonderful children; all who have graduated from college and they have given me 5 beautiful grandchildren! They definitely are the loves of my life, although I can only do so much babysitting. Even at this age a little fun is always welcome. We were all so innocent in high school. At least my friends were. No alcohol or cigarettes in those days! These are some of the things I learned after graduating, but still wouldn't it be fun to go back for just a little while?.. Wonder what we would do different... Well anyway looking forward to seeing everyone.

Married Steve Jones (Benson '67) while attending UNL. Moved to Minneapolis area in early '73 and to Livermore, CA in July '74. Moved to Pleasanton, CA in 1984 (about 35 miles east of San Francisco) and have been in the same house ever since. We live 4 houses down from a 130 acre Sports Park - which has come in handy, as we have eight kids: 6 boys and 2 girls (Lisa, David, Matt, Aaron, Paul, Christopher, Charissa and Ryan). All are adults now (our youngest is 22). Six of the kids live within 1/2 hour from us, with 2 of our boys in S. Cal. Our 3 oldest kids are married and we have 7 grandkids (5 girls and 2 boys). We feel very blessed, as the whole family gets together often and really enjoys each other's company!I have been privileged to be a stay-at-home mom for most of my kids upbringing (thank you for being such a great provider, Steve!). I volunteered, worked part-time and finally, full-time at my kids Christian Jr/Sr high school. While full-time, I was the school's Registrar - responsible for the master schedule, report cards, transcripts and some college counseling. (If you have any questions about California State Universities or UC's, let me know.) I retired from school (for the third time!) 3 years ago. I now pick up an occasional shift at a local ceramics shop, host a weekly Bible Study, babysit my grandkids, and plan and host a multitude of family parties. Steve & I love to travel and have done quite a bit over the years - most of it business or sports related. My favorite trip was to the Tuscany area of Italy (to visit our daughter, Charissa, who was living in Siena) and my least favorite trip was to Russia and Ukraine (also with Charissa) to an international gymnastics (Sports Acrobatics/Acro Gymnastics) meet. I look forward to the reunion. --It made me sad to scroll through the "In Memory" section and know there are several classmates that will not be there. |
