Barbara Allendorfer (Copeland)

Marital status: Married Children: 2
Occupation: Computer Service/Project Manager
Comment:
Right after graduation my family moved to California. I married my high school sweetheart, Mike Allendorfer, in 1969. We have 2 children, Peter 32 and Rachel 30, and one granddaughter, Karyna, 10. We live in Pittsburg, which is located on the Sacramento River about half-way between San Francisco and Sacramento. For the past 15 years I have been self-employed, and involved in pavement management planning, working as a consultant to agencies in Oregon and California. We regularly visit Omaha, as Mike's parents and sister Karen (Alledorfer) Tichy are still there. I have also kept in contact with my buddy Jeannie (Blakey) Brayman. I am looking forward to the reunion, and wonder what happened to 25, 30, and 35??

Married to Judy ( Backens ) from class of 68 it's been 44 years.. We moved back to Omaha in 2010 from North Little Rock, Arkansas. We built a new house in NW Omaha. I enjoy being outside in the yard, or in my man cave in the basement. Everything has been great since we moved back home to Omaha. We now get to spend more time with our 3 grandkids up here........ how ever the 3 we left in Memphis were not real happy about our move. We try to get back to see them when ever we can.

I married my High School Sweetheart Kathy Anderson. We married in 1969 the same year I went into the Navy. We lived in San Diego, CA and Norfolk, VA. We had 2 daughters Angie and Stephanie and now have 4 grandchildren - 3 girls and 1 boy. We love being grandparents. I am looking forward to retiring next year as I have been wanting to do this since I was 21. Besides being busy with grandchildren and their sports activities, we still like to camp, and go fishing, well I fish and Kathy reads while we're on the boat. We are looking forward to the reunion.

Wow 45 years, it just seems like yesterday when we were graduating and then I look in the mirror.  I guess time sure flies when you're having fun.I married my high school sweetheart Roy Andersen (not my brother, the guy who sat next to me in homeroom).  We were married in 1969 and then traveled first to San Diego, CA and then to Norfolk, VA while Roy was in the Navy.  Roy is working at Grede Manufacturing as a machinist and I am working for FMS which is a Foodservice Food Broker in Omaha.  We are both looking forward to retiring next May.We have two grown daughters.  Angela who is a second grade teacher at Fullerton and Stephanie who works for the Marketing Department at SAM's.  Angie has 2 girls (Katie 10 and Alyssa 7) and Stephanie has 1 girl Sydney 12 and 1 boy Tony 10.  They are the loves of our lives. We keep busy with the grandkids and being active in our church. We are looking forward to the reunion.

Mark Antony had his Cleopatra, Romeo his Juliet, and Dave Baden his Delores. That’s me: Delores Weidner Baden. At least I haven’t met a violent and untimely death. Our partnership is going strong after 38 years. We have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren. Our grandson Jeremy just celebrated his first birthday and our granddaughter Caroline will be one in October. What a joy they are!

Thanks to my husband’s career as an engineer for Northrop Grumman, I live a comfortable life here in Laguna Niguel, California. Since I didn’t have to work, I chose to be a stay at home mom who worked part-time as a preschool teacher. Presently I work only as a substitute. This leaves me with time to pursue other interests such as birding, tai chi, and weightlifting. Also, I have always been quite active in my Lutheran church. I play in the hand bell choir (much easier than marching and playing a clarinet in the BHS marching band). I give children’s talks on Sunday; help with a children’s music program and Vacation Bible School. Also, I’ve helped teach Bible Studies and been in some dramas.
My husband, Dave Baden (Benson High class of 63) plans to retire in 2008. This will give us more time to walk on the beach, hike in the mountains, play with our beloved grandchildren, and TRAVEL. We’ve already been to several countries and now are looking forward to a cruise trip around the Galapagos Islands in May of 2008. And I hope to go dogsledding again. We went on an Elderhostel to Ely, Minnesota to cross-country ski and dog sled. Even though Ely, MN is super cold in February (especially for someone from CA), I absolutely loved handling a dog sled. What a blast!!

While my husband’s retirement will be a challenge, I’m sure the future looks just as promising as it did forty years ago when I said good-bye to Benson High.

I started working for K' mart in November of 2003 after my  husband was retired.  Unfortunately his retirement was short lived.  He did have 8 months then after a six month stay in the hospital I lost him December 8 2004.     Our daughter and daughter-in-law were both expecting at that time.  Our daughter had our first grandson in janruary.  Our daughter-in-law had a girl.  Marion didn't get to see the babies before he passed on but he knew what they were both having.      Our daughter has four girls and one boy.  The oldest graduated last year.  Our daughters children range in age from 18;;16;;07;;05;;and 2.5.       Our oldest boy has his CDL he hauls cars for dealers.  He has not given us any grand children "YET".  Our youngest has two girls ages 2.5 and 1 also a 3 month old baby boy.      I am still working at the same store although the store changed there name to Sears Grand one year ago.  I am in softlines,  which means the clothing side of the store.     I am looking forward to seeing everyone in September!!!!!!!!!!

July 1, 2012 Our 45th reunion is an event that calls for some serious reflection. I look out at the high school students I still teach and I do not feel 45 years older than they are. When I struggle with learning the latest technology, I am reminded that I now belong to the older generation. I teach French in a suburban Philadelphia high school, honors and regular courses, French II to AP French Language and Culture. I am chairman of the World Language department. We are planning a new student exchange with a lycée in Normandy to begin in 2013. If all goes well, I will work two more years. We have also survived a three-year school renovation project.  Summer is a time for rest, relaxation, travel and planning for the next year. My interests are piano, reading, tennis and swimming. Roger and I have been married for 31 years. I look forward to reunions because it gives me an excuse to return to Omaha and see all the amazing changes. It will be great to see everyone again.

I have a BA and MA in English and have been teaching at rival Creighton Prep for 30 years. I teach Advanced Placement, Sophomore English, Creative Writing, and Academic Decathlon. I haved coached Decathlon for 20 years with 5 State championships. I have been widowed for 17 years and spent much of that time with all four elderly parents, all of whom are now deceased. I plan to teach for a few more years. I travel extensively--Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, a bit of Africa--and plan to do as much traveling as I can as often as I can. I recently auditioned for Jeopardy and am in the contestant pool for the next 18 months. I love to read, be with my friends, and fight with my cat who just presumes she owns everything.

Enjoyed reading the bios.  My husband and I still live in Omaha in the Montclair area.  I retired after 28 years in the education field.  The last 21 years, I worked as a teacher/librarian in the Millard School District.  My husband, Leon, and I have one daughter, Tess, who lives in Bellevue with her husband and three children...Sierra (9), Rex (4) and Evelyn (2).  It has been a lifelong dream to have a cabin in Minnesota, so three years ago we purchased a lake home in Alexandria and have enjoyed our summers fishing, swimming, and hosting gatherings for our family and friends.
